Women’s Corona Society School is a privately funded, non-profit, non-government grant-aided institution, designed to provide sound pre-primary, primary, and secondary education to all groups of children irrespective of their gender, tribal, or religious affiliation.

Women’s Corona Society School History dates back to the year 1964. The school was established originally as a Home School run by Mrs. Goodall of the then Northern Chemist, Jos. The school started in her home with her children and some neighbor’s children. After a while, the school was relocated to a property along Beach Road in Jos and named Beach Primary School.

In September 1966, the Beach Primary School now with a population of about 88 pupils was handed over to the Women’s Corona Society to manage. The Women’s Corona Society (with its Headquarters in London and branches in several commonwealth nations) is a society of philanthropic-minded women with the establishment of nursery and primary education as their primary goals. Most of its members in Jos then were Europeans, mainly wives of miners working with the Amalgamated Tin Mines of Nigeria now Consolidated Tin Mines Limited.

In February 1969, with a much larger population, the Beach Primary School now being managed by Women’s Corona Society, moved to a new site at No.1 Miango Road, Anglo Jos, almost opposite the Makeri Smelting Company (the place now occupied by the Air Force Officer Mess).

In the year 1971, the Women’s Corona Society was requested to take over the Shamrock House School Bukuru, and the Ropp House School near Barkin Ladi both being managed by the Amalgamated Tin Mines of Nigeria. Subsequently, following some renovation and re-arrangement of available facilities, the two Schools with the Beach Primary School were merged into what became Women’s Corona Society Primary School, Bukuru with its present site at (Shamrock House) Bukuru. The name it has retained till date.

In 1982, following the rationalization in the mining industry and exodus of many expatriate miners and their families, the school was handed over to the Nigeria Chamber of Mines, who now became the proprietor of the school from that year to date. The school is managed by the School Management Council set up by the Nigeria Chamber of Mines to be the highest policy and decision-making body of the School.

In another landmark move, in September 2014 a Secondary School arm was established by the mandate of the Management Council. The Secondary School has since presented students for BECE, WAEC, and NECO examinations being an approved Exam Centre itself by the respective relevant Examination Bodies.

The School authorities have maintained the primary objective of the founders by ensuring equal opportunities of admission to all the children within and outside the community regardless of race, tribe, religion, or creed. As a non-profit making body, the School has ensured over the years stable and affordable School fees policy. The School has up-to-date facilities and has recently invested in a modern integrated ICT School Management system(Qampusplus) thereby ensuring a conducive environment for maximum, modern, rich, and purposeful educational experience. The PTA is a vibrant part of the School Management System and is consulted at all levels. The School is in the process of developing an Alumni Database to tap into the nearly 60 years of graduating pupils from the School
